    Innovation Product Award
    This award will be given to a product or service that demonstrates clearly that is new, original and ahead of current thinking.

    Environment Award
    This award aims to recognise those institutions or individuals that can demonstrate a positive impact either within their school or community of their sustainable initiatives either by increasing environmental awareness or by positively contributing to a more sustainable approach.

    Community Award
    This award will be presented to an educational establishment or individual who can demonstrate real value to the community it serves through the most imaginative attempt to aid the wider community socially, culturally or economically.

    NGO
    This award will celebrate and reward the best non-profit organisation by recognising examples of best practice and successful resource mobilisation.

    Institution Leader of the Year
    This award will be presented to an education institution leader who, in his/her life and role, personifies outstanding qualities and attainments in leadership, the advancement of sound economic practices, and adherence to the highest ethical standards.

    Teacher of Tomorrow
    This award recognises a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the education sector. This professional has had outstanding achievements to date and strong potential to play a leading role in their field going forward.

    Educator Who Cares
    This award recognises an educator that shows care and concern for the holistic development of their students, and goes the extra mile to ensure their students grow up to be confident and independent learners.

    Lifetime Achievement Award
    This award is for lifetime achievement rather than for a single contribution, no matter how monumental. Nominees should have a minimum of 25 years of distinguished service to education.

Judging criteria per category

Presented to suppliers and/or distributors that supply education establishments with high quality, safe products appropriate to every day teaching and learning needs.

  1. How the product or service meets the needs of schools today
  2. How they demonstrate outstanding customer-care and an exceptional standard of service
  3. Provide testimonials or case studies from schools and colleges illustrating the impact of the product or service on learning and the work of the teacher in the classroom

This award will be given to a product or service that demonstrates clearly that is new, original and ahead of current thinking.

  1. Product must have been launched in last 18 months
  2. Must demonstrate innovation at the highest level, with a way of doing something differently or more effectively

This award aims to recognise those institutions or individuals that can demonstrate a positive impact either within their school or community of their sustainable initiatives either by increasing environmental awareness or by positively contributing to a more sustainable approach.

  1. Describe the background to and context of your initiative
  2. Detail the nature of your work. Spell out your objectives and achievements to date
  3. How does your contribution differ from standard practice?
  4. How did you make a change? – describe how you put the initiative in action
  5. If relevant, how does this work fit within your institution’s overall corporate social responsibility strategy?

This award will be presented to an educational establishment or individual who can demonstrate real value to the community it serves through the most imaginative attempt to aid the wider community socially, culturally or economically.

  1. Describe the background to and context of your initiative
  2. Explain the nature of the work, and the challenges involved
  3. How the establishment has created and sustained partnerships with local businesses
  4. A supportive and inclusive approach to both parents and the wider community
  5. Provide evidence of demonstrable progress or success. Show how the project has made a difference to the target community
  6. Outline how you as an individual or staff/students contributed to the success of the project
  7. Testimonials of those that have been positively affected by your initiatives should be included as supporting evidence

This award will celebrate and reward the best non-profit organisation by recognising examples of best practice and successful resource mobilisation.

  1. NGOs must be registered as a non-profit organisation and have been operational for a minimum of three years

This award will be presented to an education institution leader who, in his/her life and role, personifies outstanding qualities and attainments in leadership, the advancement of sound economic practices, and adherence to the highest ethical standards.

  1. The nominee should go beyond the day-to-day demands of their position to create an exceptional educational environment and have a desire to make a difference in the lives of young people
  2. What are they doing help their educators increase proficiency rates in subjects?
  3. How are they developing and retaining excellent teachers?
  4. Do they go out of their way to solve challenges facing their institutions?
  5. Are they playing an active role in planning and supporting instruction that is appropriate for their students, and they ensure that school time and resources are focused on student achievement?
  6. Is the nomine displaying enthusiasm, a caring attitude, and a love of learning?

This award recognises a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the education sector. This professional has had outstanding achievements to date and strong potential to play a leading role in their field going forward.

  1. He/she must have made an exemplary personal and professional contribution to the education sector in Africa
  2. He/she must have been seen to raise awareness on education issues
  3. He/she must show evidence of actively engaging leading decision makers on education sectors in his/her community
  4. He/she should be involved with their own or in another education project within their community

This award recognises an educator that shows care and concern for the holistic development of their students, and goes the extra mile to ensure their students grow up to be confident and independent learners.

  1. The nominee should have had a lasting impact on a student and give examples of how this has been achieved
  2. How is the educator motivating their peers to inspire their learners in the same way?
  3. What innovative methods is the educator using to reach out and motivate the students?
  4. How does the educator deal with challenges they face to pursue their goal of inspiring their learners?
  5. Exemplary educational accomplishments beyond the classroom that go above and beyond their role in the classroom

The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented for a minimum of 25 years’ service in education with an achievement in leadership, teaching, and service. Distinction in these categories can be demonstrated through: 

  1. Performance of the nominee on the job
  2. Service beyond the requirements of the job on national/international level
  3. Services such as: offices held, committee memberships, special projects, meetings, publications
